What's a Casserole?
A traditional casserole is a dinner that involves layering a few different food ingredients in a large baking dish, baking it, and then serving it hot. You can even find specifically made casserole dishes on the market to use. Traditionally, the same dish is used to bake the meal and then serve the meal. A casserole can be prepared with a protein layered with some veggies, starch, and topped with cheese or other sauce. Casseroles could also just be veggies and starch with cheese/sauce or just the veggies and cheese/sauce. Again, the idea is that the meal is cooked and served in the same dish, becoming a cohesive one-dish meal.
